Submission of Applications

Applicants should:

– Download and fill out the affidavit attached below.
– Fill out the Application Form for Accreditation as a Registered Shariah Scholar online.
– Submit the Application Form for Accreditation as a Registered Shariah Scholar online attaching the filled affidavit and the CV.

Qualifications and Experience

A Shariah Scholar shall possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:

01) Do you have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university with minimum 2nd Class Honours in the fields of Economics/ Finance/ Accountancy/ Commerce/ Banking/ Law; or

Post Graduate qualifications in Shariah/ Islamic Jurisprudence/ Islamic Finance from a recognized university?
02) Do you have a professional qualification from a recognized standard setting organization for the global Islamic Finance industry such as the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI)?
03) Do you have proven competence and expertise in jurisprudence of financial transactions?
04) Do you have a proven track record that demonstrates:

- sound comprehension in Finance in general and Islamic Finance in particular

- experience of having worked in the spectrum of Islamic Finance and/or Shariah supervision for a minimum of five (5) years either in direct employment or advisory level?
05) Does your work experience demonstrate a good knowledge of the capital markets and the legal and supervisory framework related to Islamic Finance activities?
06) Do you have an excellent knowledge of Arabic, good working knowledge of English and good oral and written communication skills?

07) Do you comply with ‘conflicts of interest’ criteria specified in the Guidelines for Shariah Scholars published by the SEC?
08) Do you comply with the ‘Fit & Proper’ criteria specified in the Guidelines for Shariah Scholars published by the SEC? if yes please download and fill the affidavit and attach below.
